After 10 years of its maiden edition, Big Brother Nigeria
returns. The reality TV show was first introduced back in 2006, where 12
contestants are placed in the Big Brother house for 11 weeks. And every Sunday,
a contestant is eliminated from the house until one is left and declared as the
winner.
The winner of the contest walks away with N25 million and a
brand new Kia Sorento SUV car. This year’s show which started on the 22nd
of February will run until the 9th of April, and was graced with
special musical performances from Yemi Alade, Flavour, and K9, with former
housemate Ebuka Obi-Uchendu as the host.
Ebuka introduced the 12 housemates; Efe, Gifty, CoCoice, Uriel, Kemen, Marvis, Thin Tall Tony, T Boss, Soma, Bally, Miyonse, Bisola,. He declared himself as one of the biggest supporters
of Big Brother Nigeria; “Ten years ago I was a housemate, today I am one of
their biggest supporters.”
Mr John Ugbe, The Managing Director of Multichoice Nigeria,
expressed their pleasure of having Ebuka as the host of this year’s show. He
said; “We are particularly excited to have Ebuka as host of Big Brother Naija.
This was the platform that unearthed his potentials and propelled him to
stardom.”
BB Naija is a special edition of the continental show, Big
Brother Africa. It is tailored to suit the demands of the Nigerian audiences
who are not pleased with the explicit content of the Big Brother Africa. The
show will run for 78 days.
