ARCHITECTS COLLOQUIUM (AQ)


The Architects Colloquium (AQ) is an annual gathering of Architects in various vocations for the purpose of brainstorming on issues facing the profession. The Architects Colloquium was established in 2007, the Architects Colloquium has each year debated on prime architectural issues, with many Architects and other stakeholders presenting papers,apart from presentation of papers, also involves Group Discussions, Q & A sessions, Courses and Exhibitions. The AQ is organised by the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON).

AIM:
The aim is to educate, inspire, lead the society and encourage professional excellence always.

OBJECTIVES:
The objectives of the Architects Colloquium are to annually:
1. Engender a vibrant, more efficient and sustainable architectural profession with best practice in our ever dynamic building industry.
2. Consider issues that aid the improvement of professional services by Architects.
3. Provide an avenue to relate with other professionals, statutory bodies and stakeholders.
4. Evaluate the Architects’performance using established benchmarks on an annual basis.
5. Address other national issues within the purview of the profession.
6. Make regular and appropriate recommendations to the three tiers of government and other stakeholders.

TARGET AUDIENCE /PARTICIPANTS
This is broken into groups - Architects in various vocations, promoters and allied professionals.
A. ARCHITECTS FROM VARIOUS VOCATIONS BUT NOT LIMITED TO :
(1) All schools of architecture in Nigeria.
(2) Department of Architectural services in the federal ministry of power, works, housing, and urban development
(3) All ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs)
(4) Federal Housing Authority.
(5) All states Housing Corporations.
(6) Plan approval offices of states & Local Government.
(7) Physical planning units of universities, polytechnics and colleges of education
(8) Works and services department of military, paramilitary etc.
(9) Property departments of banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions.
(10) National universities commission (NUC) National board for technical education (NBTE) etc.
(11) Architects in politics
(12) Allied professionals
(13) General public.
