Ondo North Senatorial ticket - Group drums support for ‘Nekan Olagbegi

Prince Nekan Olateru-Olagbeg

Coordinator, Public Private Partnership (PPP) of Ondo State and the former Senatorial candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Prince Nekan Olateru-Olagbegi stands as the most appropriate and credible among other aspirants who are contesting the ticket of the Labour Party in Ondo North Senatorial District of the state.

In a press statement by a political group in Ondo North Senatorial District under the auspices of The Loyalty Group, through its spokesperson, Comrade Olaposi Olagoke, the group said “the party must get it right this time around to avoid the situation whereby somebody runs away with their mandate as being witnessed currently.

“We are in this state when we all gave our mandate to the current Senator representing the senatorial district, Professor Ajayi Boroffice, on the platform of the Labour Party (LP) but he eventually ran away with the mandate to join the All Progressive Congress(APC).

“This time around, we have identified, on the test of time, those we can trust with our tickets to represent us in any political office. We have been able to sieve those who are loyal to the party from those who are only moles.

“We cannot afford to give our tickets to political jobbers who run from one political party to the others because of selfish ambitions. If such individuals are given tickets, there is no doubt that they will be pursuing their own agenda.”

While rooting for Olagbegi, the group said the time has come for the injection of new breeds of young, talented, dynamic, intelligent individuals with high integrity and loyalty not only towards the party but also to the course of the common people of their areas, which virtues are embedded in
Prince Nekan Olateru-Olagbegi,  if only the party must win the next senatorial election in the district.

“There is no denying the fact that Nekan Olateru-Olagbegi’s loyalty to the party has been outstanding. Nekan Olagbegi was the only senatorial candidate of the party who contested election under the platform of the LP in 2007 that was denied a returning ticket in 2011 despite the outstanding performance of the party in the 2007 general elections in the Ondo North District.

“After the 2007 election, Olagbegi was given an appointment by the late President Umaru Yar’Adua to represent the South-West on the Board of Fiscal Responsibility Commission but he jettisoned it because of his ardent loyalty and commitment to the course of Labour Party.
“In spite of this, the quintessential Prince of Owo Kingdom did not leave the party  but  rather strengthening  the political structure through his philanthropic  contributions and donations to the district:

“A container load of medical equipment and supplies, Over a million of textbooks to schools, empowerment to youths and the aged, embarking on strategic and aggressive publicity of the party’s programmes and achievements.”

All these, the group said were enough to determine who the party man is and who is ready to serve the people wholeheartedly. The group however appreciated Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State for appointing him as the Coordinator of Public Private Partnership of the state.
The group equally lauded the Governor for all the feats his administration has achieved and all the projects in pipe line in the northern district and the state in general.
