DARE BAGS YOUTH AWARD IN USA

The Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development Sunday Dare has been honoured with the inaugural DOERs Award, in Minnesota, United States of America for his contributions to youth development.



Some other distinguished Nigerians who have made significant contributions to human capital and social development also bagged awards.


The awards, tagged DOERs Awards were conferred on the Minister and other recipients in recognition of their contributions to youth development by the global advisory board members of the Africa Chamber of Digital Commerce(ACOFDC), organisers of the Emergent Africa Forum(EAFORUM), a non profit organisation based in Minnesota, United States of America.


In highlighting the work of the Youth Minister, the convener of the group, Eric Kaigama said the international community especially the Minnesota venture capital communities have been observing his extraordinary contribution to youth empowerment and humanity, especially the work done with the Nigerian youth, commending his out of the box thinking that has led to the establishment of the Nigeria Youth Investment Fund(NYIF), several digital training programmes and cyber security trainings.


Kaigama also stated that ACOFDC believes in development where the youth are empowered and local infrastructure systemised to create employment opportunities and revenue streams that benefit the local communities because an empowered youth translates into a healthy and prosperous Africa.


The Minister, who was represented at the event by his Special Assistant on Youth and ICT, Oluwakemi Areola, spoke on the significance of President Buhari's reclassification of sports as business, the opportunities for the youth in the multi billion dollar esports sector, international venture capital investment in Nigerian youth entrepreneurs and the need for deeper understanding of emerging technologies for young and old Nigerians.


Some other recipients of the youth awards include Alhaji Samad Rabiu of BUA Group, Masai Ujiri of Toronto Raptors, a National Basketball Association(NBA) team and Navroop Sahdev of the Digital Economist among others.
