Breaking News- Tragedy hits Nigeria as helicopter Crashes In Bayelsa State
Tragedy has struck again, this time in Bayelsa state where a helicopter belonging to the Nigerian Navy is reported to have crashed.
The former National Security Adviser, Andrew Azazi; and Kaduna state governor, Patrick Yakowa are reported to be among those that boarded the helicopter, although there is yet no official confirmation.
Our correspondent in the state reports that the crash occurred in a swampy location near Okoroba community in Nembe local government area of the state.
Although details of the casualty figure are still vague, it is feared that there are no survivors of the air mishap. Meanwhile, an emergency rescue operation is currently underway at the scene of the crash.
It was gathered that the chopper was carrying some prominent Nigerians, who were headed to Port Harcourt after attending the burial ceremony of Pa Obebara Douglas, father of the Special Adviser to the President on Documentation and Strategy, Oronto Douglas, in Okoroba, Bayelsa State.
This crash comes on the heels of a plane crash on October 25, 2012 involving the governor of Taraba state, Danbaba Suntai who is currently receiving treatment in a hospital in Germany.
