Ghana v Nigeria friendly game Tuesday, 11 Oct 2011

FOLLOWING last month's postponement of the scheduled Ghana-Nigeria friendly game at Vicarage Road, the organisers now pleased to announce a new date for the fixture after receiving the necessary go-ahead from the football authorities.

The Vic will host the friendly international on Tuesday, 11 October, once again with an 8pm kick-off.
The original game was due to take place on Tuesday, 9 August but was called off, along with other London games, due to the well-publicised cases of civil unrest throughout the capital.

The two West African Giants the Black Stars and the Super Eagles clash agai.
FIFA/UEFA match agent Justin Addo, speaking at a press conference held on the 22nd June 2011 at the Ghana High Commission said:
“There is a huge Nigerian and Ghanaian community in the UK and other parts of Europe who are keen on this game and we will make things easy for them to be able to bring their friends and families to the game.
“Even though the game will be played in England, people in Africa are also interested in coming to watch the match while those who will stay home want to see the game.”
Also in attendance at the High Commission were Ghana captain John Mensah and High Commissioner Kweku Danso Boafo.
The match will be a chance for the Super Eagles to take vengeance on the Black Stars after a string of losses in recent meetings.
Ghana, currently ranked 15th in the world are expected to put out a strong team. This eagerly awaited match will see English Premier League players go head to head. Nigeria currently 39th in the world have the likes of John Obi Mikel and Peter Odemwingie at their disposal.
Ghana’s coach Goran Stevanovic’s announced the return of, Michael Essien in May and he was also included in the 24-man squad for the June 3 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Republic of Congo.
This vigilant, yet friendly encounter is sure to be a great spectacle and will be a great opportunity to spend the day with family and friends.
